10 Jun 08 Tue Day 9

Family day

Part of the group leave for the west coast. I have to go into Rapid City for a flight to Minneapolis and a meeting. Turns out they have replaced the aircraft with a smaller one and there wont be enough seats so I cant go. So its back to camp and cards and games with other family members the rest of the day.

2nd Entry

07 June 08 Day 6 Up at 6:00 to be ready for a 10K walk at 8:00. Our Campground is approx. one mile from Crazy Horse and we look at the rock carving from all over the campground. Crazy Horse, 2 days a year opens its grounds for a Volksmarch to the top of the mountain. We are there for this 2 day period and a group of the Bredahls made the hike to the top just under Crazy horses chin. The trail was through the woods and around the base of the mountain, finally on a work road to the top. There were 4 check points, where our cards got stamped. Awsome view of the carving and the local area.
Then back down the road to the visitor ctr. where we met up with those that didn't make the hike. Dinner at the Cattlemans in the town of Custer.

08 June 08 Day 7 Today a group of us went into Deadwood, SD to browse around and leave a few (ha ha) quarters in the one arm bandits. Myron got involved in a re-inactment of Wild Bill Hickocks Demise. He was Captain Billy sitting at a poker table playing poker with 2 other gentlemen, when Wild Bill came in and joined the game. (By the way, it's on film) This is the point where the dirty coward slipped up behind Bill, shot him through the head. The bullet came out and struck Capt. Billy in the left arm. (It was a really fun show) Costumes and everything (Although the Capt. jacket was a little small) Went back to Custer and played cards and games at camp -----------end of wonderful day.
