4 Sept.Thur.day 95

Today it's a drive to the West. Out to Graniteville. Home of (Rock of Ages, Granite). We toured the Barre Mine and the cutting plant, and found out how they cut this amazingly hard rock and move it into the plant. The etching and cutting is an amazing process. Artisans and craftsmen creat almost anything you want out of solid granite. Now it's up the road to Cabot for a tour of the (Cabot Cheese Factory). Excellent cheese and we found out that cheddar cheese is totally lactose free and White. The orange color comes from artificial means and is most popular in the Mid West and West. After that we drive on to St. Johnsbury and a ( Maple Sugar Plant). We learned the in's and out's of making maple syrup. Such as, it takes 31 gal. of sap to make 1 gal. of maple syrup. We take so much for granted. Finding out how these things actually come into being is very interesting. Gary and Myron have been alternating driving/navigating so its not so hard on anyone. Today it was clear and 80degrees.

5 Sept. Fri. day 96
Today is a down day getting ready to leave tomorrow. We do some shopping, repairs and clean up. Lots of pitch and pine needles on the awnings. Sorry to leave this place, it was nice to have an extended time here and use it as home base. It was confortable to come back after a long day and relax.

6 Sept. Sat. day97
Today we left the camp in Twin Mountain at 8:30am. Approx. 1:00 to Wellsriver to fill up with fuel, $4.25 a gal. and enjoyed a Truckers breakfast. Homemade breads, and lots of food. It was overcast this morning with a low of 60 degrees, as we're driving to Conneticut we encounter showers but nothing serious. The high for the day ends up close to 90 degrees, humidity about 80%. Thank goodness for air conditioning. We check into the campground in East Hampton about 3:30, enjoy a free supper of Tacos with other guests at 5:30. At about 6:30 the heavens open up and it is a downpour. The tail end and of one of the hurricane's of the season is now overhead. We get 6 to 8 inches of rain tonight and 40 mph winds. Two counties away there are Tornado warnings out until 8:30 pm Thank goodness now it's 8:45 and they are dropping the warnings.
