18 Jul Fri Day 47 (Halifax, Nova Scotia)

Bus took us in to Halifax 9:00am. First stop was the Halifax Citadel, national historic site of Canada. It is a Star shaped fort designed to protect Halifax Harbor. University students are paid to act as soldiers and give the place a lived in feel, and they do a very convincing job. At noon (sharp) they fire a cannon to indicate the time to all the city.
Lunch at Citidel-Halifax Hotel, then 2 1/2 hours of walking and shopping downtown Halifax. What a beautiful Harbor and very busy downtown area. Could really spend more time here. (Gayla said that) Went through another larger Museum that also had a memorial section dedicated to the Titanic. Lots of information about the pasengers, what classes they were in and how they were treated.. VERY SAD & INTERESTING. On the way back to camp we stopped at the cemetary where many of the Titanic victims were buried and some were acknoledged. Halifax was the closest city to bring them to.
